Introduction

Photos from our hike in Torote Canyon, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Driving up the dirt road in Indian Gulch, Torote Canyon is the first large branch on the right. Torote is the Mexican name for the Elephant Tree which grows in this canyon. It is found high on the walls of this very rocky canyon. This tree is fairly rare and is related to the old world's Frankincense and Myrrh trees.
